Thai Prime Minister to Visit the Maldives

The Prime Minister of Thailand, Ms.Yingluck Shinawatra is scheduled to make an official visit to the Maldives from 1st to 3rd June on the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Waheed.
During her visit, the Prime Minister will call on President Waheed and the two leaders will hold official talks on the bilateral relations between the Maldives and Thailand. Seven agreements on mutual cooperation between the two countries will be also concluded during the visit. President Dr. Mohamed Waheed will host an Official Dinner in honour of the visiting Prime Minister.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Thailand were established in June 1979. Thailand is one of the largest trading partners of the Maldives accounting for nearly thirty percent of the country’s exports. In 2012 the trade volume between the Maldives and Thailand totalled over 100 millions US Dollars.
